BAY CITY, Mich. - Wayne State University junior Melissa Moncion (Washington, Mich./Romeo) was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's cross country Runner of the Week, released by the league office Wednesday. Moncion led the Warriors to a third-place finish at the Virginia Tech University Festival in the Fields on Saturday, Sept. 4. She finished the 4k course 22 seconds behind the overall leader with a fourth-place time of 15:07.89. Moncion finished ahead of the three of the five Virginia Tech runners. Moncion and the rest of the Warriors will take part at the Running Fit-Detroit Mercy Invitational on Saturday.
