Detroit - Two weeks into the 2003 season, the Wayne State women's cross country team on pace to duplicate last year's success. The Warriors are currently ranked 10th in the Division II Coaches' Poll, released Sept. 8. WSU is also fourth in the Great Lakes Region.

Senior Amy Averill (Detroit, Mich./Southfield Christian) was the Warriors' top finisher at the Seagull Opener (third) and the Detroit Titan Invite (seventh) as the team capture the Opener title and finished second at U of D.

The defending national champion Western State College (Colo.) is the No. 1-ranked team in Division II.

The Warriors' next race is Sept. 20 at the Wis.-Parkside Invitational in Kenosha, Wis.
