The Wayne State women's cross country team is ranked 17th in this week's Division II national poll.

The Warriors claimed second place and defeated five Division I schools last Saturday at the Detroit Mercy Running Fit Invite. WSU also place third at the Virginia Tech Festival in the Fields the opening weekend of the season.

Junior Melissa Moncion (Washington, Mich./Romeo) captured the U of D title and placed fourth at the Va. Tech race, while sophomore Jenni Culbertson (Clinton Twp., Mich./Dakota) has finished in the top 10 at both competitions.

WSU travels to Kenosha, Wis., for the Midwest Collegiate Championship this Saturday.
