Wayne State University senior Rachelle Malette (Windsor, Ont./Holy Names) has been selected GLIAC Cross Country Runner of the Week by the league office.

She placed second in a time of 22:00.7 at the 2008 Iona Meet of Champions last Saturday in Bronx, New York. Malette was just six seconds behind Penn State's Leah Rosenfeld in a race that featured 224 runners.

A senior majoring in pharmacy, Malette has finished in the top 10 in 21 collegiate races and was also a 2007 GLIAC Commissioner's Award recipient last fall.

Malette, the defending GLIAC Champion, has been selected five times as GLIAC Cross Country Runner of the Week during her collegiate career.
